Megan is a freelance journalist, currently doing a Journalism master’s degree in Sheffield.
Before going to university for her MA degree, she lived in Nottingham and quickly fell in love with the city, spending a lot of her time exploring its many cafes, bars and restaurants. Her favourite spots in the city include 31K and 200 Degrees Coffee on Old Market Square.
With a background in creative writing, she is especially passionate about long-form journalism and telling people’s stories that may not otherwise be heard. Her focus is on telling the stories of people who may not otherwise have the platform to speak for themselves.
She is most proud of her Sheffield Wire article on a sex education book club as it shines a light on the number of adults in the community who are not comfortable talking about their bodies and encourages people to ask questions.
She really enjoys writing gaming, technology and travel content and has covered local news, lifestyle and reviews for publications including The Sheffield Star, Forge Press and Sheffield Wire.
Megan spends a lot of her free time playing video games, doing aerial sports, and planning backpacking trips. Her favourite trip was to Warsaw in Poland as it was her first solo holiday and encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone and speak to new people. She is currently planning to visit several balkan countries including Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Albania.
