What is Nottingham Goose Fair?

The Goose Fair is officially Europe’s largest travelling fair, spreading over almost 20 acres and containing over 500 fair rides.

The fair has over 700 years of history under its belt. The fair started out as a livestock trading event that allowed farmers to sell their goods. Since then, the fair has hosted oddity shows and performing fleas as it transitioned into the fair which is so popular today.

Originally, the fair is believed to have been called St Matt’s, however, the number of geese at the markets led to it being referred to as Goosey by locals. This name stuck and the fair eventually became officially known as The Goose Fair.
