While you may think that you need to venture outside of Nottingham in order to find your next UK holiday destination, there are a number of great glamping spots to visit with your partner, family, or friends.

Each of these glamping sites offers something different from fishing lakes and bell tents to water sports and horses.

1. Bell Tent Village in Adbolton

Only 3.5km from Nottingham Castle, Bell Tent Village in Adbolton is a peaceful holiday spot close to the city centre. Based within Holme Pierrepont Country Park, the home of the National Water Sports Centre, Bell Tent Village is perfect for fans of water sports.

The site offers kayaking, and paddleboarding, and is home to the lagoon wipeout inflatable obstacle course.

A range of packages and tent types are available to suit whatever kind of holiday you are looking for. The Apartment Tent Package provides spacious accommodation that can sleep up to 16 people and the opportunity to choose two exciting activities.

Conversely, the Safari Tent Package is designed to accommodate up to six people for a more adventurous holiday which lets you choose from activities ranging from kayaking to high ropes.

2. Peacock Lake Glamping in Gunthorpe

For a relaxing, adults-only getaway, Peacock Lake Glamping in Gunthorpe is the ideal destination. Part of a well-established fishery that has been popular with anglers for over three decades, the property is home to several varieties of coarse fish, including carp.

If fishing is not for you, the site is only a 10-minute drive from Gedling Country Park and Cotgrave Country Park, which both make for scenic days out.

The glamping pods sleep two people and are equipped with a full kitchen, shower room and central heating. All of the pods also have a hot tub and outside seating areas.

Located in a rural area near Retford, Southfields Bell Tents gives you access to the entire site. The website states that it is likely your only company would be that of the two donkeys who live in a neighbouring field, Ava and Molly.

The bell tent comes with a firepit and outdoor camping kitchen and you can eat outside at the wooden picnic table on warmer days. If you do not feel like cooking, there is a foodie pub a 10-minute walk away in Egmanton Village.

5. Oxton Hill Hideaway in Oxton Hill

For a nice rural getaway, the Shepherds Huts at Oxton Hill Hideaway are a great escape.

Located on Dumble End Farm, there is a busy equestrian yard with horses using the fields for grazing making the location perfect for any horse lover.

There are two Shepherd Huts available: Pond View and Paddock View. Both huts come with a log-burning stove and logs, an ensuite bathroom, a kitchenette, and a gas BBQ.

The stay also includes all sheets, a duvet cover and towels plus coffee, tea, and a jug of milk.

6. Southwell Retreat in Southwell

Close to the picturesque market town of Southwell, Southwell Retreat’s Glamping Pods are perfect for those who like independent shops and historic buildings. Southwell Minister is nearby and the town is internationally renowned for its Bramley Apple heritage.

The pods include underfloor heating, a small kitchenette area, and a bathroom. The Rosy Pod is a more luxurious pod that comes with a veranda, a king-size bed and a log-burning hot tub. Three of the pods allow visitors to bring a small dog, and one is completely pet free.
