A gallery in Nottingham has launched a stunning interactive and family-friendly art installation with the aim of providing a magical experience for children and grown-ups. The event opened to the public on Tuesday, August 8 from 10 am.

The enchanted forest has been designed by renowned digital artist Barret Hodgson and Lakeside Arts at the Djanogly Gallery. The free event is a sensory digital installation that will bring to life a fantastical woodland.

Although it is perfectly timed for the summer holidays, the enchanted forest will stay open until September 3 so there is plenty of time to catch the woodland experience. There is also the option to book SEN-friendly sessions too.

The beautifully creative installation features waterfalls, trees, and lily pads which are bathed in bright colours and are surrounded by magical creatures who engage with and are shaped by each visitor’s interaction. Lakeside are renowned for its interactive exhibitions which have included the Luminarium which took place on the grounds of Nottingham University earlier this year.

Visitors could move around the inside of the art piece which takes a different form each year. The summer programme for the arts centre includes puppet shows, science and creativity workshops and woodland witch story trails. While many of the events are free, there may be booking or some costs involved so it is worth checking ahead of time to see what the requirements are.

The gallery is the University of Nottingham’s public arts programme and it is estimated that over 200,000 people of all ages visit the gallery per year. The Djanogly Gallery has been a part of the university since 1992.
