The newest iteration of the luminarium is premiering at Nottingham’s Lakeside Arts starting from May 27.

Luminarium: Terceradix’s world premiere will take place in Highfields Park from Saturday 27 May to Sunday 04 June. The attraction is designed to be a sensory experience which radiates beautiful, iridescent colours and the interior has an other-worldly, cathedral-like or space-like design.

The luminarium was designed by Architects of Air (AoA), with the first luminaria, entitled Eggopolis, being toured in 1990.

The experience first came to Nottingham in 2004 and has been returning frequently since that point. Last year, the event ran into difficulties as the August heatwave meant the structure had to be deflated for a few hours as it became too hot to enter. Thankfully, this was only temporary and it was back on

Alan Parkinson, founder and designer of AoA, said: “I design luminaria because I want to share my sense of wonder at the phenomenon of light. A luminarium provides the frame for an encounter with a light whose surprising and simple intensity cuts through conditioned perception.”

The luminarium is family friendly however under 16-year-olds will need to be accompanied by a paying adult. Baby tickets for children under 18 months old are free.

There will also be an adults-only session on Thursday 1 June between 5.30 pm and 7.30 pm.

The attraction will be open from 11 am, with the last admission at 5:15 pm. Tickets start at £5 with a £6 priority access ticket also available.
