Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have taken to Twitter following their side’s win over Notts County.

Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have reacted to their side’s huge win over Notts County on Monday.

It was heartbreak for County at the Racecourse, with Luke Williams’ men now facing the National League playoffs in their bid to return to League Two. Going into the game, the two sides were locked level at the top on 100 points, though Wrexham do have a game in-hand to play.

County were on the right path after John Bostock’s brilliant free-kick on the stroke of half-time, but Wrexham hit back through Paul Mullin and Jacob Mendy. Kyle Cameron scored a leveller for County, but Wrexham got back in front through Elliott Lee following some dreadful defending from Williams’ men.

There was one final chance, with County awarded a penalty six minutes into stoppage time for handball, but substitute Cedwyn Scott was denied by Ben Foster, breaking County hearts. Wrexham are now in a commanding position, three points clear and with a game in-hand.

While it was to be heartbreak for County, it was quite the opposite for Wrexham, who now look all-but certain to secure their long-awaited return to League Two by winning the title.

On the back of the win, the Dragons’ celebrity owners Reynolds and McElhenney took to Twitter to celebrate their win. McElhenney tweeted: “I can’t believe there was a time when I thought football was boring.” The Always Sunny in Philadelphia star also added: “And that’s why you go get @BenFoster.”

In a video on BT Sport, Reynolds was pictured asking star striker Mullin for his shirt after the game while congratulating the rest of the team on the pitch.
