When it comes to amazing ambassadors to Nottingham, Vicky McClure is right at the top of the tree.

The Wollaton-born actress, best known for roles in This Is England and Line of Duty, is always flying the flag for Nottingham wherever she goes.

From her work with the amazing Dementia Choir to surprise appearances at the Splendour and Gloworm festivals, Vicky has always stayed true to her roots.

Nottingham through and through, it’s fair to say that Vicky is a pretty good person to ask for a recommendation.

Vicky has previously shared that her favourite city bar is Dino, in Warser Gate.

In a 2012 interview with Visit Nottinghamshire, she said: “I really like it here, the food is really tasty and it has a really cosy feel to it.

“I often go there with my mum after a long day's shopping in town, glass of wine, sometimes live music, perfect combination.”

Earlier this month we at Nottingham World were lucky enough to be able to put a few questions to Vicky surrounding her home city.

Now, we couldn’t afford to miss this opportunity to quiz the 41-year-old on her favourite city restaurants, could we?

In response to this question, Vicky said: “Iberico, if you want somewhere to rock up quickly and enjoy, and La Rock restaurant if you want somewhere posh.”

Bar Iberico, in Carlton Street, has long been recognised for its authentic Spanish flavours.

As Vicky quite rightly says, it’s a great place to try while out shopping or on a work break.

The all-day tapas bar has an impressive 4.5/5 Google rating from more than 1,800 reviews.

La Rock, meanwhile, has earned similarly rave reviews for its diverse culinary offerings.

From the traditional roast dinner to sea trout, the Sandicare restaurant really does have something for everyone.

La Rock was named East Midlands Restaurant of the Year at the Food Awards England 2023.

Great choices, Vicky!
