Nottingham flood warnings: Major incident declared in Nottinghamshire after weekend of torrential rain
A major incident has been declared across Nottinghamshire following a weekend of torrential rain and storms.
Storm Babet caused nationwide chaos last week and over the weekend, with many areas being struck by severe flooding and road closures. Nottingham is no exception with a number of roads remaining closed.

Hide AdThe market town of Retford, remains one of the worst affected areas with two severe flood warnings still in place. Nottinghamshire County Council has advised against travel to the area, unless absolutely necessary.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service wrote on its website: "People should maintain high levels of vigilance and continue to check flood alerts relating to where they live."
An update on the NFRS website yesterday (22 Oct) said: "We are continuing to closely monitor the situation. Environment Agency incident response staff are liaising with emergency services and local authorities and remain ready to respond and support wherever it is needed.
"People are advised to stay away from flood water and do not take risks that may endanger yourself and others. Please follow the advice of the emergency services and first responders on the ground."

Hide AdAccording to Gov UK, 11 flood warnings are in place across Nottingham, with the rivers Trent, and Derwent at risk of overflowing.

What to do during a major incident:
- Only travel if necessary
- Don’t ignore a flood warning or a road closure sign
- Give yourself plenty of time for your journey and always have a second route planned
- Do not enter flood water in case of hidden hazards such as lifted manhole covers
- River flooding is possible so stay away from swollen rivers
