Storm Babet: Amber weather warning issued for Nottingham as high winds and heavy rain expected
Experts have issued an amber weather warning for the region
An amber weather warning has been issued for Nottinghamshire as Storm Babet is expected to bring heavy rain and high winds to large parts of the UK.
The Atlantic storm is expected to bring very strong winds and heavy rain when it arrives over the UK on Friday.
The Met Office said homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, with the possibility of widespread travel disruption.

An amber rain warning is in place from midday on Friday, October 20 until 6am on Saturday, October 21 with wind gusts expected to reach 36mph in Nottingham.
Jason Kelly, Met Office’s chief meteorologist, said: “Storm Babet will track gradually northwards in the coming days.
“Although the most significant impacts are expected within the Red and Amber warning areas, there will still be wider impacts for much of the UK from this wind and rain.”
What to expect from an amber rain warning:
- Homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
- Fast-flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing danger to life
- A possibility that some communities will be cut off by flooded roads
- Delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are likely
- Spray and flooding probably leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- Power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses possible
