Nottingham Police issue appeal after man is seriously assaulted in city centre

Nottingham Police have issued an appeal following a frightening attack in the city centre that has left a man with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

Nottingham Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was reportedly assaulted by an attacker who was armed with a blunt instrument in Nottingham city centre in May. Officers had been called to Upper Parliament Street shortly before 11:30 pm yesterday

The victim received first aid at the scene for serious head injuries before being taken to hospital. His injuries are currently not thought to be life-threatening. Inquiries are ongoing to trace his attacker, including checking CCTV footage.

Detective Sergeant Richard Doel, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our investigation to understand the full circumstances of this violent incident is still in its early stages but we are pursuing lines of inquiry and appealing to anyone who was in the area, and who may have information which could assist us, to please get in touch.

“Everyone should be able to feel safe in our city without the fear of being attacked and we are working to find the person responsible and bring them to justice.”

Anyone with any information, CCTV or who witnessed the incident is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 956 of 9 May 2023, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
