Temperatures across the East Midlands are predicted to reach the high 20s this week, presenting the perfect opportunity to spend plenty of time outside with the kids.

As the warm weather arrives, many of us will be busy searching for ways to cool down.

With the seaside more than two hours away and wild swimming not always the safest option, the best bet for families is to find an outdoor pool.

It just so happens that one of the biggest outdoor pools in the country is just an hour’s drive from Nottingham.

Located in the charming market town of Bourne, Lincolnshire, the Bourne Outdoor Swimming Pool is a great place to cool off over the summer holidays.

At 50 yards in length, the near Olympic-size pool offers swimmers plenty of space to complete a few lengths or simply enjoy being in the water.

With qualified lifeguards on duty at all times, the pool is a far safer outdoor alternative than jumping in a river or lake.

“The changing rooms and pool area are clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly.

“Hats off to the people that keep this place running and the volunteers who help get this place ready for the summer season.”
