A new restaurant has been announced for Beeston which will take over the former Ottimo spot underneath The Arc Cinema

The restaurant, called Glass Orchid, announced that it will open in the autumn time with a selection of 'world tapas'. While little is known about the restaurant, the new business has announced specially selected wines and a bespoke cocktail menus list.

Glass Orchid will be located on the site of the former Ottimo restaurant which closed suddenly earlier this year. The closure of the 150-seater restaurant has left the unit empty for seven months.

It forms part of a £50m Beeston Square development which is set to transform the area. A new, yet controversial, student development has been announced for the car park space on Station Road. The eight-storey building with a proposed 419 bedrooms of which the height would make it the tallest in Beeston and one of the first purpose-built student accommodation buildings.

The Arc Cinema opened in 2021 and has several empty and occupied units underneath the building. The Beeston Social and Rassam's Creamery are still operating but Ottimo closed its doors. Workers came into work to be told that the restaurant was closing after an investor pulled out. A recent sale of the restaurant furniture was held to clear the space ready for new tenants.

Nottingham World understands that the new owners are unrelated to the previous business.
