British Pie Week 2024: The 'game-changing' Nottingham pie shop where the customers queue down the street
Dig out those stretchy pants and limber up your stomach muscles because it's British Pie Week - and we're here to feast.
Nottinghamshire is no stranger to the humble pie, with the county even having a namesake dish. For the unfamiliar a Nottinghamshire Pie contains meat (usually beef) and stilton and is topped with a layer of golden mashed potato.

PSA: I don't think the word pie has been used as frequently as it is in this article, ever before.

Whether you like yours served with mash and gravy or with chips and a frosty pint, that is somewhere for every taste.
So in honour of British Pie Week, we're celebrating seven days of Nottingham's finest piemakers. Kicking off with the one and only Project Pies.
Project Pies on Carlton Hill in Nottingham is a little shop (open Wednesday to Saturday) selling beautifully handcrafted pies.

Each of the epic pies, with flavours ranging from classic steak and ale to the more adventurous spicy jerk chicken, is butchered and crafted on-site.
"Queues out the door"
The cool shop celebrated its first anniversary on February 28th, writing on the brand's Facebook page: "Well pie fam, with all your support we made it to our one-year anniversary. Your support has blown me away, thank you all so much. We don't exist without you."
Project Pie started life during lockdown as a door-to-door drop-off service, delivering pies across the city. From there it has grown into an established and well-loved business, with customers queuing out the door.

Some of Project Pie's best-loved flavours include balti chicken, spicy beef and cheese, steak and red wine, chicken and stuffing, and more.
But it is not just a place for hardened meat lovers with mouth-watering veggie options available too including an earth-shattering mac and cheese pie. Not for the faint of heart.
If you're not in the market for a pie but still want to get your pastry fix you can always opt for one of the shop's GIGANTIC, HUGE, MASSIVE, ENORMOUS (have we made our point yet?) Sausage rolls, instead.
"Meaty goodness"
Project Pie is rated 5 stars out of 5 on Google Reviews.
