I am a third-year undergraduate student at Nottingham Trent University, originally from Birmingham. In the past I have written for the award-winning student-led magazine Platform at NTU, and for LeftLion, writing a variety of news, lifestyle and entertainment articles, which have mainly been Nottingham based. With a keen interest in writing about culture and entertainment, I was ecstatic to win a Platform award during my first year of university for one of the first reviews I had ever written about the Channel 4 show ‘It’s A Sin’. Since then, I have continued writing culture and entertainment pieces as well as writing community news stories and features, aiming to bring attention to different people and issues across Nottinghamshire. Back home in Birmingham, I work part-time with children and young people who can come from hard backgrounds and need support during half-term, summer and Christmas breaks. My work in this area has made me passionate about raising awareness for young people and communities close to me, and this often reflects in what I write about when considering newsworthy stories. I am an avid cinema-goer and keep up with entertainment news from Netflix to television channels like BBC and Channel 4, making me a huge fan of most sitcoms and TV shows that include anyone who I find funny from the British comedian realm. After university I am hoping to travel and see how many countries across Europe that I can visit, and it would be amazing to be able to incorporate this into any opportunity I have to write during my travels or afterwards.
