St Patrick’s Day commemorates the death of St Patrick. The day also celebrates Irish culture in general, with events featuring Irish music, dance and other entertainment taking place up and down the country.

Nottingham is no exception – from free events to Irish bars, there’s plenty to see and do in Nottingham city centre. If you’re heading down on Friday, Old Market Square is the place to be to watch live bands and Irish dance groups. Here’s where to park near Old Market Square and how to get there.

How to get to Old Market Square

There are several ways to get to Old Market Square in time for the celebrations. You can choose from various transport options including the train, bus and tram.

Train

If you’re visiting Nottingham by train, you’re in luck as the city centre is about a 14 minute walk away from Nottingham railway station. However, if you’re not up for walking, you can take a bus or a tram.

Bus

There is a bus stop right outside Nottingham railway station. The bus will take you to the city centre in 10 minutes. The following buses take you to Old Market Square, according to Moovit: 1, 10C, 15, Calverton, Indigo, Rainbow One, Two.

Tram

If you’ve ever visited Nottingham, you’ll have noticed the tram lines throughout the city centre. Like the bus, this will take you to the city centre in 10 minutes, and there’s a stop right outside Nottingham railway station.

You’ll want to take the tram that’s under the City Centre Zone. The tram service runs every seven minutes during the week, or every three minutes within the city centre. On the weekends, the tram runs every 10 minutes.
