A historic castle near Nottingham is to host a 1940s-themed weekend this summer. 

The event at Belvoir Castle, near Grantham, will feature live 1940s-style singers, vintage stalls, and memorabilia displays.

The ‘Wartime Weekend’, on Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16, is set to celebrate the camaraderie and togetherness of the 1940s, with attendees invited to dress to impress in period clothing. 

The event will take place just over a week after the 80th anniversary of D-Day, which will be marked with the firing of a real Second World War tank. 

Visitors can engage in riveting re-enactments that bring the 1940s to life, capturing the essence of a bygone era.

Tickets to the event include entry to the castle gardens, where you can take in the stunning summer blooms. 

Since opening in 1067, Belvoir Castle has been home to the Duke of Rutland. 

A castle was first built on the site immediately after the Norman Conquest of 1066 and has since been rebuilt at least three times.
