10 magical photos of Christmas at Wollaton that will leave you feeling fabulously festive

Christmas at Wollaton is Nottinghamshire's only festive light experience

I'm going to say it... it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Now, before you gag at my use of the cliché, think about all of the wonderful things this time of year encapsulates: good food, quality time, and of course, twinkling lights galore!

And Christmas at Wollaton combines all of those elements in one beautifully wrapped sparkling package, as I discovered when I was offered the chance for a sneak peek of the trail on opening night.

Even by daylight, Wollaton offers a grandiose view, this only becomes more spectacular when the house is lit by beaming lasers that can be seen for miles around.

Hot chocolate (spiked with Baileys, obviously) in hand, my boyfriend and I took off around the grounds of Wollaton to experience Nottinghamshire's only light trail.

To enter the light trail you walk through a tunnel covered in fairy lights, setting the scene for a magical experience ahead. The tunnel was giving Alice in Wonderland meets Willy Wonka in all it's delightful, colourful splendour!

Once you're through the tunnel (or down the rabbit hole) you enter the stunning grounds which have been skilfully transformed into a wintry wonderland boasting colourful trees, disco ball decorations, and magical reindeer.

I won't spoil the details too much because you should go and check it out for yourself, but the trail is wonderfully immersive and glittery.

Robin Hood's Roses was a highlight for me, deliciously romantic, twinkling, and in all the hues of a summer bouquet, this part of the trail had me elbow nudging my boyfriend to propose.

New interactive elements of the trail include illuminated stepping stones and Light Launchers where visitors can launch their laser beams into the trees (this was a big hit with the little ones and tech-loving grown-ups).
