5. Nottingham’s Forest distinctive red strip would go on to inspire Arsenal’s choice of red when originally designing their shirts.
Forest even donated a full set of red kits to Arsenal when the Gunners first came into existence in 1886.
6. Nottingham Forest’s first ever football match took place on the 22nd March 1866.
The opponents that day were Notts County, their near neighbours and arch rivals across the River Trent. For obvious reasons, we couldn’t quite get a photo from 1866 but we do have one from 1978 Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford instead where Forest won 1-0
