A look at the latest in the relegation battle after the mid-week fixtures, which included a huge win for Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest remain locked in the relegation battle as we enter the final run of games.

Steve Cooper’s men picked up a huge win during mid-week, defeating Brighton at home to haul themselves above the dotted line, at least for now. But just one point separates them from Leicester City in 18th with just five games to play - at least for most teams. Ahead of another round of fixtures this weekend, we have rounded up all the latest details surrounding the relegation battle, including the remaining fixtures for each team.

Take a look below as we take you through the latest on the dog fight.

Current table

Sputhampton are in deep, deep trouble after their defeat to relegation rivals Bournemouth on Thursday. Conversely, the Cherries now look as though they are pretty much safe, already seven points clear of the drop zone.

Everton’s defeat to Newcastle could also prove could prove costly, particularly given they lost another three in their goal difference. The Toffees are now two points from safety. Forest are currently in 17th place, but just one point above the drop, Cooper’s men will know their race will likely go to the final day, and the same can likely be said of Leicester and Leeds.

From West Ham up, it’s looking increasingly like those teams will pull away and secure safety with at least a couple of games to spare, but there could yet be twists and turns.

What Steve Cooper has said

Speaking after the win over Brighton, Cooper said of Forest’s survival hopes: “I am so pleased for the supporters and players but we haven’t won for months.

“I don’t think you can win a game and celebrate too much. We have a lot of work to do.”
