Old Photos of Nottingham: 15 nostalgic pictures bring back memories of life in Nottingham in 2005

It’s fascinating to see how much the city has changed in 19 years!

As hard as it is for us to admit, the 2000s were quite a long time ago.

The fact that those born in the year 2000 are turning 24 (twenty-four!) this year, just goes to show how so much time can pass in the blink of an eye.

Those first few years after the millennium were a time of change in the UK as the internet impacted all of our lives in one way or another.

Quite a lot has changed here in Nottingham since the early 2000s, from shopping centres being demolished to much-loved shops shutting down.

If you were to get in a time machine and travel back to Nottingham 20 years ago, you’d find the Emett Clock in its original position, the Virgin Megastore still flogging records and, of course, Broadmarsh Shopping Centre still standing.

We’ve had a dig through the archives and found some great photos of Nottingham in the year 2005.

The big news events of 2005 included the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in the USA and the death of Pope John Paul II.
