The Game of Thrones star will star in MGM+ version of the hero’s adventures

Sean Bean has been cast as the Sheriff of Nottingham in a new television series based on Robin Hood.

Bean, formerly of Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings, has landed the star role in MGM+ version of the classic story.

The series will begin filming this month, ahead of a release some time in 2026.

Ten episodes will be made, although it’s not currently known if they will be released in stages or all in one go.

Jack Patten will play Robin Hood in what will be his first TV role.

The official synopsis says the series will bring “a modern energy to the classic tale of the roguish outlaw hero who stole from the rich and gave to the poor, and the epic love story between him and a courageous and daring Marian.”

Filming locations for the series are currently under wraps, so it’s not known whether any scenes will be shot in Nottinghamshire.
