Musician Morrissey has cancelled his Nottingham Theatre Royal Concert Hall performance which is part of his new Ireland and UK tour

The team cited ‘unforeseen circumstances’ on Twitter as the reason for the cancellation and said a further statement will be made in due course. The Nottingham show was meant to take place on Sunday, July 9th.

They wrote: “EVENT UPDATE: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Morrissey’s show tonight will not be going ahead. Ticket holders are asked to hold onto their tickets and a further announcement will be made in due course. We apologise for any inconvenience.”

The show is just one stop on a tour of Ireland and the UK that the Smiths singer has announced. The dates at Leeds, Liverpool, London and Dublin appear to be unaffected by the cancellation. Tickets are still on sale for the event at £66.45.

He was originally thought to be performing at Crystal Palace Park on the same day as the Nottingham performances but this was later confirmed as not going ahead by his management team.

Fans reacted to the news with one person writing: We were nearly on our way to Nottingham. I only received emails from Ticketmaster reminding me of the gig tonight. No cancellation email. If I hadn’t looked on Twitter and searched for Morrissey I wouldn’t have known.” Another commented: “Absolutely gutted. It was my 11-year-old son’s first time hoping to see his idol in his home town.”
