A popular plant shop in Nottingham city centre reversed its decision to close after a pair of new owners took over.

The Watered Garden, a plant shop that also offers terrarium workshops, is located in Unit 11 of Sneinton Market and initially announced on May 7 that it will sadly close its doors.

The “sad news” came after six successful years in business, with the shop due to close on June 4. The founders of the shop, Chris and Rebecca Tucker, said in an Instagram post: “We set up this business six years ago, dreaming of a creative space for people to come, make, and play.

“It’s quickly escalated into a thriving houseplant and terrarium shop.

“Since then, we’ve connected with many of you, re-homed thousands of houseplants, and ran hundreds of terrarium workshops. More recently, I’ve been managing the store from home whilst raising our three girlies.

“Our incredible employees have done a phenomenal job running the day-to-day in-store during this time, but we’ve decided it’s time for our season at The Watered Garden to end, and we will be sadly closing the doors on June 4.

“We’re so grateful for each and every sale, kind word, and Instagram like you’ve ever made. Without you, our little plant shop wouldn’t have survived its first year, let alone nearly six years!

“We hope to see our vibrant business continue to grow without us.”

However, the Sneinton-based business confirmed yesterday, May 29, that a pair of new owners will take over.

Although the shop will shut its doors between June 4 and June 17 for renovations, a reopening sale and celebrations will take place between June 17 and June 24. A “thank you” sale is also taking place this week, Wednesday to Saturday, offering customers 10 per cent off.

Rebecca added: “Our incredible employee, Charlie, and her partner, Louis, have made the very exciting decision to take over The Watered Garden.

“They plan to keep the houseplant and workshop part of the business alive but are also adding some new exciting aspects to the brand. For us, this was our dream scenario when we decided to step away from the business and we couldn’t be happier to pass our first business baby over to these guys.

“I believe you’ll love them as much as we do!”

This has sparked excitement among shoppers, who have praised the “fantastic” decision.
