Police arrest suspect in handbag thefts from Nottingham pubs

A total of five pubs in Nottingham City Centre have recently been targeted for handbag theft. They were targeted between July 16 and August 1 and on each occasion a handbag was stolen containing cash and bank cards.
Nottinghamshire Police arrested a 57-year-old suspect on Friday, August 4 who was taken into custody for questioning.

Hide AdThis was in relation to seven thefts and seven frauds by false representation. Detective Sergeant, Toni Smithurst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our officers worked quickly to carry out their inquiries and I’m glad that a suspect has been arrested.
“Opportunist thieves need to be warned that we have a number of methods to track them down and we will do everything we can to bring them to justice.”
These thefts were linked to the two thefts on July 20, one was the theft of a rucksack from a hotel in the city centre and the other a purse at a Sandwich shop in Mapperley.
The suspect was bailed as the investigation continues.
