Nottinghamshire Day celebrations to join ‘iconic’ Robin Hood Festival

Nottinghamshire Day celebrations will return as part of the annual Robin Hood Festival at Sherwood Forest for a second year.
The event, which marks the city’s connections with the fabled outlaw, will host activities including archery, axe throwing and medieval musicians on Saturday, August 26.

Hide AdNottinghamshire Day is on Friday, August 25, but the festival will take place over five weekends with different attractions from July 30 to August 27.


Jess Dumoulin, visitor experience manager at RSPB Sherwood Forest, said: “This is such an iconic location for the county in so many ways that it is the perfect fit for this celebration day.”
Nottinghamshire County Council said it was “proud” to be hosting the festival at Sherwood Forest for a second year.
Festival organisers said the event will champion Nottinghamshire’s heritage, wildlife and culture.

Hide AdNottinghamshire Day has run for three years, with celebrations recognising the county’s history, identity and traditions.
The popular Sherwood Outlaws action arena show will return to entertain visitors, which brings the legend of Robin Hood to life.
Cllr John Cottee, the authority’s cabinet member for communities, said the event would provide a platform for “local talent at special events”.
The day festival will take place between 10am and 4pm and is free for visitors, but charges £10 for parking. Alternatively, the site can be accessed via the Sherwood Arrow bus service.
