Nottinghamshire County Council leader, Ben Bradley MP, said: “The stage will once again provide us with a brilliant opportunity to showcase Nottinghamshire to a global television audience of millions and help shine a light on why it is such a great place to live, work and visit.”

The complete details of the route and timetable have not yet been announced by organisers, but they have confirmed the peloton will pass through Clumber Park, Worksop, Harworth, Retford, Southwell, Tuxford and Collingham.

This stage will mark the Tour’s fourth visit to Nottinghamshire in seven years, with last year’s race estimated to have brought an additional £4.34m to the county’s economy.

Mick Bennett, Tour of Britain’s race director, said: “Given the size of the crowd and the wall of noise that greeted the world’s best riders for our last stage in Nottinghamshire in 2022, it makes perfect sense to return there this year.”

Nottinghamshire County Council said 225,000 fans lined the 116-mile route of last year’s stage between West Bridgford and Mansfield.
