Nottingham travel: EMR expecting to run normal timetable next week despite action short of a strike

Rail strikes are scheduled to start from today across this weekend however EMR have said normal timetable to run next week

East Midlands Railway (EMR) has announced it expects to run a normal timetable next week despite industrial action from ASLEF. The rail strikes have begun today and are scheduled to cause disruption across the weekend for fans who may be travelling for Eurovision and football matches.

There will be no services on Friday, May 12 as members from the ASLEF union take industrial action. This strike specifically includes train drivers so therefore EMR trains will not be able to operate. EMR will also operate a significantly reduced service on Saturday, May 13 with trains only running between 7 am and 7 pm with last departures between 3 pm and 4:30 pm.

Members from the union ASLEF, which represents train drivers, has withdrawn non-contractual overtime from Monday, May 15 until, and including, Saturday, May 20. EMR has said it expects no change to its timetable although trains may be subject to short-notice alterations and cancellations.

The organisation has warned that customers should check their full journey before travelling and also to visit the EMR website for more information. Stations and social media will also have updates on travel information.

Will Rogers, Managing Director for East Midlands Railway, said: “We have worked hard to put in place a plan which should allow us to run our normal timetable.

“However, there is still a risk that some trains may be may be subject to short-notice alterations and cancellations. Customers are advised to check if their journey is still possible before setting off.”
