The team at the racecourse tweeted: Racing this evening (19/06) has been abandoned following this morning’s inspection. There was 45mm of rainfall on Sunday which has left the track unraceable, with areas of unsafe ground due to waterlogging.”
There are safety considerations for both jockeys and horses when using a wet track as it may become slippery increasing the risk of injury. It may also affect the performance of the horse and further damage the track.
