Nottingham becomes the UK’s latest city to welcome Lime e-bikes

Nottingham is set to become the fourth city to welcome Lime vehicles as the business launches its latest Gen4e-bike and a new rental system.

Lime, one of the largest shared e-scooter and e-bike operators has launched a fleet of rental vehicles in Nottingham with a view to providing more sustainable and affordable transport options. This will include e-bikes and e-scooters that people can activate on their phones.

The scheme is launched in collaboration with Nottingham City Council where residents will be able to find the bikes in key city locations and enjoy the benefits of cycling. The new Nottingham launch follows other successful launches in London, Milton Keynes and Salford. Derby will also launch a similar e-bike scheme in the coming weeks.

Nottingham will also have access to Lime’s new Gen4 e-bike model which will be available to hire through the Lime app. Users will be required to park the bikes at designated parking bays across the city. The bays are appropriately located across the city so that riders won’t have to travel far to find one.

When it comes to cost, the company offer a 50 per cent discount for eligible riders that sign up for membership of Lime Access. Lime charges a fixed rate of £1.00 to unlock an e-bike and then 19p per minute to ride.

Alice Pleasant, Public Affairs Manager at Lime said: “Expanding our e-bike service into Nottingham is a key step in our ambition to give cities nationwide the tools to transition away from cars and meet their net-zero targets. Lime’s e-bikes have become a popular addition to the streets of London, and in partnership with Nottingham City Council, we hope to see more and more people adopting alternative transport methods.”

Alex Flint, CEO of Nottingham Business Improvement District said: “Championing sustainable ways to access Nottingham city centre, to shop and socialise, or to visit and enjoy the city’s open and green spaces, is important to Nottingham Business Improvement District, so we’re very excited to see the new generation of Lime e-bikes arriving in the city.

Nottingham already has a strong track record of providing environmentally friendly transport, including the large gas bus fleet, and extensive tram network, and we anticipate that local residents and visitors will enjoy using these new vehicles as practical, and green, ways to discover or commute into the city.”
