The Headstocks Tearoom: Much-loved Nottinghamshire tearoom to close as owners provide explanation

It will close at the end of November

A much-loved Nottinghamshire tearoom is set to close later this year after running the business became “unsustainable”.

The Headstocks Tearoom, in Brinsley, is set to close on November 30, with the business put up for sale soon after.

In a Facebook post, the owners said: “This tearoom was our dream.

“We are just two girls who tried so hard to make this work and create jobs.

“We poured everything into it, our time, our hearts, our energy and we are truly heartbroken that it hasn’t worked the way we hoped.

“Please know, we couldn’t have tried any harder. We adapted, cut costs, fought, and held onto hope for as long as we possibly could.

“But the odds have been stacked against small independents like ours.

“Rising supplier prices, crippling energy bills, and unfair government rules and policies for small businesses have pushed us to breaking point.

“We refused to compromise on quality or raise our food prices to levels that didn’t feel fair to you, our customers and in the end, it simply became unsustainable.

“The tearoom has always been more than just a business. It’s been our dream, our safe space, and a home filled with laughter, warmth, and more cake crumbs than we could ever count.

“It’s also been a place for the local community to meet, where friendships were made, stories were shared, and neighbours became friends over a pot of tea.

“Together we’ve celebrated birthdays, marked milestones, shared quiet moments, and poured thousands of cups of tea with the most wonderful community. For every bit of support, you’ve given us, we are endlessly grateful.”

The tearoom reassured customers that all vouchers will be honoured up until November 30 and that all event bookings will be going ahead as planned.

The Headstocks Catering Service will continue beyond the tearoom’s closure.
