Off-duty police officer attacked by group of four men outside Nottingham bar

A man is wanted by police after an off-duty police officer was attacked at a Nottingham bar.

Hide AdThe Leicestershire sergeant was inside a bar on King Street, which Nottinghamshire Police has not named, when he overheard another man making racist comments.
When the off-duty officer challenged the man’s behaviour, the man tried to punch him.
The altercation moved outside the bar where the officer was repeatedly punched by a group of four men at around 8.10pm on Saturday, October 7.

Hide AdThe officer avoided “severe” injuries, but a CCTV image still of a man police would like to speak with has now been released.
In the picture, the man is seen wearing blue trainers, black shorts, a navy jacket with a white stripe down the arm, an Hawaiian lei and has short, fair hair.
PC Koen Broers said: “The off-duty officer was enjoying an evening out with friends and deserves credit for intervening when he overheard a man using racist language.
“What followed was an unprovoked and despicable act which could easily have left him seriously injured.”
