Community Centre described as ‘lifeline’ to get new funding boost
The St. George’s Centre on Victoria Road has become a vital part of the community with locals describing it as a ‘lifeline.’ The centre offers everything from hot, low-cost meals to CV workshops to exercise classes to mum and baby classes. Last year, it became a warm hub providing a safe, heated place for vulnerable adults amid the energy crisis.
The centre team are delighted with the amount and confirmed that the funding will be used to finish off the Loco Centre with new windows and doors. The cafe which provides £1-£2 meals will be given a new glass roof and also, solar panels will be added. It is hoped that solar panels will help to beat the rising energy costs.
