6 places to go for a good cocktail in Nottingham
Nottingham has a lot of amazing places to go for a cocktail or two. If you are looking for a recommendation, here are some of the best spots to get you started
While we may have had to go back to work properly this week, there are still plenty of reasons to raise a glass at the weekend. Nottingham has a lot of great places to go where, if you time it right, you might make happy hour.
1 - Pepper Rocks
You would be forgiven for walking Pepper Rocks as it's neatly hidden down Pepper Street, which is a side street just off the main street in Bridlesmith Gate. If you look carefully enough, you should be able to see the neon signs which pinpoint where to go. Pepper Rocks is a beautifully decorated spot spread across two floors with some outside seating.
An absolute highlight on the menu has got to be the Espressotini which is a blend of Absolut vanilla vodka, Kahlua, cold brew and alkimi simple syrup.
2 - Cocotang
Cocotang is a stone's throw away from Pepper Rocks so it makes sense to head from one to the other. The cocktails here are beautifully decorated including the Regina George which comes with its own edible burn book.
The courtyard is the best part of the bar to have a post-work-pick-me-up in as it transports you directly to 1950s Saigon. We strongly recommend the Fight Club-inspired cocktail which comes with its own edible pink soap bar.
3 - Tilt
Tilt on Pelham Street is another hidden drinks spot as you’ll need to look up to spot it. The drinks here are professionally made along with the relaxing atmosphere means it feels like a treat.
We suggest The Candy Apple Sours to start with if you fancy trying something a little different. The drink is mixed with four roses, Manzana Verde, lemon, caramel and egg whites for a truly tasty alternative to the standard Cosmos and Mai Tai.
Tilt runs a happy hour on Thursday and Friday from 5 pm to 7 pm where you can get their normal 8 cocktails for £5.
4 - Pudding Pantry
It would be rude not to include Pudding Pantry after we sampled the amazing new cocktails on their small plates menu. The Salted Caramel and Bailey’s Martini borders on a dessert thanks to the mouthwatering mix of cream, Baileys and Vodka.
If you fancy something a bit fruitier then the Electic Lemonade is a good order as it's frighteningly easy to throw back. Prepare to order more than one as it's a great pre-summer drink.
5 - The Botanist
It’s always good to get out of the city for a change of scenery and West Bridgford has everything you need from tapas to tea. We love The Botanist for a good after-work cocktail or two and it seems we aren’t alone as the bar is one of the best in West Bridgford.
If you need another reason to go then you should note the Strawberry and Elderflower Mojitos which contain Bacardi, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, strawberry puree and mint. While the bar isn’t running any happy hours - they won’t rule it out for the summertime so its worth keeping an eye out to see what deals they may introduce in the future
6 - Everyday People
We welcome any excuse to grab a bowl of ramen while we have a drink or two. Everyday People can be found tucked away on Byard Lane. The Yuzu Merange Pie is a great place to start if you are stuck for a drink suggestion.
