'Stunning' woodland near Nottingham with dramatic views and three gentle winter walking trails
The forest mainly consists of pine woodland and open heath.
The natural beauty of Nottinghamshire is well worth making an extra effort to experience during winter, when woodlands become crisp and crunchy.

But one place in particular - which has even earned comparisons to the stunning pine forests in Canada - is well worth a look over the coming weeks.
It’s fair to say that Blidworth Woods is the lesser-known cousin of its northerly neighbour, Sherwood Forest.
Located a mile or so south of the village of Blidworth itself, the forest mainly consists of pine woodland and open heath.

Blidworth Woods comprises of three designated trails, ranging from 800m to 5km.
The heathland within the forest turns a majestic gold colour during autumn, providing visitors with some amazing photo opportunities.
As you can imagine, the sheer size of the forest makes it ideal for dog walkers at all times of the year.
The two car parks - Longdale Lane and Blidworth Bottoms - are both free for visitors to use.
