‘Reasons beyond our control’: New Nottinghamshire farmers market cancelled just days before first event

The first market was due to be held this weekend

A new Nottinghamshire farmers market has been cancelled just days before the first event was due to take place.

Last month DD & E Bates & Sons Farm Shop, near Mansfield, confirmed plans to host a new monthly farmers market at its Penniment Lane site.

The first market was due to take place this Saturday (September 6), with visitors promised a variety of locally-grown produce, as well as local crafts and baked goods.

However, it has since been confirmed that this Saturday’s market, as well as an event on Saturday, October 4, have both been cancelled.

In a Facebook post, DD & E Bates & Sons Farm Shop said: “Unfortunately due to reasons beyond our control we are going to have to cancel the Farmers markets 6th September and 4th October.

“We understand how frustrating this is and can only apologise to our customers and any stall holders that were going to attend these events.

“We can only apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
