Rabbetting On: Are my wacky lucid dreams trying to tell me something?
Vivid dreams of spiders, natural disasters and most notably about Princess Diana
I am a bit spiritualist. I read tarot cards, deeply believe in astrology, I even do manifestations under the moon (and make my friends do them too), so I am precisely the type of person to believe our dreams are trying to tell us something.

Of course, there are the classic meanings of common dreams: your teeth falling out means you are anxious, being chased means you're running away from something, or being naked means you feel vulnerable or exposed.
But I often have extraordinary lucid (some would say strange, others would say "script-worthy") dreams - which are slightly harder to decipher.

Haven't 'ate' you yet...
For example, once I dreamt that while fishing (odd in itself to be fair) I caught a crocodile, which later transformed into an angry Michael Bublé who chased me through a retirement village trying to eat me.
Now, all the Googling in the world couldn't tell me what that means (nor could my trusty dream dictionary) so I can only assume I've been repressing a fear of Big Band music.
Legs for days
When I’m stressed or anxious I will always dream about spiders. I once had a horrid nightmare that I became one and I couldn’t get out of my garden gate because my legs got in the way.
Or more frighteningly that "ninja spiders" were trying to hold me captive in my childhood bedroom (you're probably learning a lot about me right now, aren't you?)
Dreams down under
The other night I dreamed that an old colleague and I were walking through the jungle, we stopped and looked up at a hideously large arachnid watching us - so I fled, leaving him behind. I then found sanctuary in an Australian TikToker’s back garden and sent him to rescue my friend - while I cuddled his pet wombat.
All were safe in the end until the cane toads came... My best friend is about to move to Australia, perhaps my dreams are telling me I’m more nervous about it than I’m letting on.
Not-so sweet dreams
I know whenever I am going to be unwell because I will have a recurring dream about being suffocated by a talking hot-pink cake birthday cake (with legs and arms). I told my big brother this once and he suggested a trip to the hospital might be required.
Holding out for a hero
I frequently dream about natural disasters, volcanic eruptions or most notably tornadoes. Usually in these dreams, I assume some sort of heroic role whereby I save everyone and then we go for afternoon tea.
This obviously means I am a strong powerful woman (or that I've seen the episode of Desperate Housewives where there's a tornado far too many times.)
The People's Princess (in Dreamland)
But last night I dreamt that I was Princess Diana. I was luxuriating on a yacht in St Tropez with friends and then I was alone in (what we can assume was) Kensington Palace.
I had the hair, the physique, the show-stopping sense of style but I can't say I was happy about the dream. When I woke up I was baffled and very un-Diana-like, as I stumbled out of bed in my tangled nightie for a 4am wee.
So what do we think this means? Google says it means I should "stop believing in the Cinderella myth of marrying a Prince" (sorry Ken), other interpretations suggest I have a deep desire to be "an icon" (not wrong) or that I am about to meet a "tragic fate" (oh no.)
As much as I am a believer in symbolism, I can't help but think the meaning of last night's dream was simply "Don't fall asleep watching The Crown" and "Abigail for Christ's sake, stop eating cheese".
