Bohns Best Burgers on Broad Street won the prestigious award last year and are in the final again.

The Hockley restaurant has got a name for itself serving the best smashed patties in the city. It has been open in Nottingham since 2018 and serves a variety of burgers, loaded fries, chicken wings and homemade drinks. The 64-seater restaurant is located on Broad Street, downstairs from Brewdog.

It is run by brothers Thomas and Oliver Bohn with Tarvinder Singh Sabi and Jeff Neads. Their win last year came as a surprise because they were unaware that customers had put them up for the award before they were invited to the ceremony in Manchester.

Jeff Neads, who looks after the finance and administration of the business said: “It was fantastic to win last year. We’ve been around Nottingham since 2018 so I think we’ve established a nice foundation of loyal customers and people who do really like us for what we do and what we offer.

“It was great to see once again that we’ve got the support of the local community and that we are up again for the final. Let’s win it again.”

The winners will be announced at an awards evening on October 9 2023 in Birmingham.

Jeff added: “What makes us different is our attitude and approach. We sincerely believe that you have to use the best ingredients and that’s what we get. We get locally sourced buns, we get locally sourced minced beef which is from a high welfare farm in Melton.

“We use fresh as much as possible. And then supplement that with our own brand rubs and spices. The focus is always on quality. It’s not just the quality of the food it’s the quality of the whole experience.

“When customers come through the door, we want them to be welcome, we want them to see that their expectations are achieved and exceeded. The front of house and the bar staff go that extra mile to infuse our own vodkas and rums so that the cocktails and drinks we make are also of a high quality.”

As directors they pride themselves in giving back to the community and continue to do so through supporting local charities. One way they give back is with their burger for Maggies Nottingham, a cancer support charity.

Jeff said: “The fact we are nominated shows hopefully we are consistently delivering but to win it again would be affirmation that what we are doing is right and works. It would just be the biggest thrill again for us.”
