Hockley will soon be home to a new Asian food and noodle bar, replacing a popular Chinese restaurant which closed down earlier in the summer.

A new restaurant, Hey!Chili, will open in the space formerly occupied by U Canteen, at 7 Heathcoat Street.

The new occupants, who are based in Loughborough where they currently operate a restaurant and takeaway, are currently on site preparing the Hockley premises. They have confirmed to Nottingham World that the restaurant will soon be open.

According to Hey!Chili’s JustEats page the restaurant serves a range of Asian cuisine including Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese speciality dishes, all in one rice bowls, and its own signature chilli chicken.

The owners announced the move in a Facebook post on Tuesday this week. The post, which showed a picture of the Heathcoat Street site, said simply “Something good and special is coming to town soon. Very soon.”, accompanied by #Nottingham.

The restaurant in Loughborough appears to have a big following among university students.

Popular Chinese restaurant U Canteen closed unexpectedly this summer, having operated out of the prominent unit for a number of years. The former owners have been contacted for comment.
