1. Sushimania
Where: Chapel Street
Best for: Value
Sushimania is a great spot for several reasons including the friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, tasty food and the 50 per cent off deal that runs daily. If you have wanted to try sushi but never had the nerve, then this is a good place to give it a try as it is not too expensive and there are plenty of vegan options if raw fish isn’t your thing.

We are also personal fans of the temaki cones here as well the hot food options including veggie skewers.
2. Bonzai Sushi
Where: Carlton Street
Best for: Date night
Bonzai is the place to go if you are looking to impress or simply treat yourself to a date night. The small, intimate restaurant is known for exceptional sushi and bento boxes. There are plenty of different options for platters too if you fancy getting stuck in.
This is one to sit and relax in as the laidback atmosphere meant you can feel at home here. If your date isn’t a sushi fan - don’t panic as there are plenty of tasty tempura options and noodle dishes here to choose from. This includes the mouthwatering Ebi Ten Udon which mixes prawn tempura with vegetable tempura and is served with a bowl of udon noodles and seaweed in shoyu soup.
3. Tokygo
Where: Woodbourgh Road
Best for: Rice bowls and fusion dishes
Tokygo is one of the newer spots in Nottingham on Woodbourgh Road but it has quickly gained a following of loyal sushi fans. One of the best dishes on the menu are the house bowls which are a combination of fresh, fluffy rice, locally sourced vegetables, and seaweed salad with toppings that range include edamame beans, avocado, mango cubes, coriander, chives and finished with roasted sesame seeds.

4. Sushi Yoka
Where: Lincoln Street
Best for: Taste
Sushi Yoka is a bit of a hidden gem off the beaten track of Clumber Street. The small restaurant has a range of incredibly fresh and flavourful sushi. If you are vegan, it’s worth noting that you can pick up specially prepared veggie options are that not only safe to eat but full of flavour.
The idea at Sushi Yoka is good, simple Japanese ingredients combined to make quality sushi rolls. We especially love the Inari tofu roll which has fluffy seasoned rice with avocado, and fresh cucumber wrapped in nori.
5. Kokoro
Where: Exchange Walk
Best for: grab and go
The new shop on Exchange Walk is the first and only Nottingham branch for this dependable sushi brand. If you are sick of supermarket grab-and-go boxes then trade ‘em in for a box of these impossibly fresh and made on-site, sushi sets. You can mix and match here so combine your sashimi with a bit of hot food or wash it all down with some aloe juice.

They often have salmon or tuna inside. It can be very difficult to find them in Nottingham so Kokoro is one of the only places to get them.
