New cafe location “really was a no-brainer” says managing director

A popular Nottingham-based coffee chain has announced it will open its newest branch later this month.

200 Degrees said it had been monitoring sites in West Bridgford to open a new cafe “for some time” and claims to have “fought off” several larger chains.

The new cafe is located in a unit between Central Avenue and the Albert Road car park, which was previously home to Oliver Bonas, before the fashion retailer moved to the former HSBC branch on the high street.

Popular Nottingham coffee chain 200 Degrees has announced the opening date of its new West Bridgford cafe.

“When growing our footprint in our home city, it really was a no-brainer to look for opportunities in West Bridgford,” said managing director Stephen Fern.

“It’s close to our roastery on Meadow Lane, it’s home to our co-founders, and we know we already have lots of supporters in the area – mainly because they’ve been suggesting we open there for quite some time.”

It will be 200 Degrees’ fourth Nottingham-based cafe, which includes outlets in the city centre on Carrington Street, Milton Street and Flying Horse Walk, when doors open to the public for the first time on Saturday, July 22 at 9am.

Founded by Rob Darby and Tom Vincent, 200 Degrees first started roasting coffee at Meadow Lane in 2012 and launched its first shop in the city centre two years later.

The successful chain has grown with cafes across the country, including York, Leeds and Manchester, with the latest opening marking the company’s 20th site.

The first 200 customers will be rewarded with a free drink and the first 50 will also receive a goody bag with artwork designed by Nottingham artist Jess Williams.

Two bags will contain either a gold or silver ticket, with the customers in with the chance of winning a Sage Barista Express machine, an Opal Pod machine, a free three-month coffee subscription or a barista course.

West Bridgford’s newest coffee shop will be open between 7am and 7pm Monday to Saturday and between 8am and 6pm on Sundays.
