The Pudding Pantry: We tried Nottingham's 'best pancakes' and this is what we thought
Now that we’re well into 2024, many of us will be desperately trying to keep up our New Year’s resolutions.
As well-intentioned as New Year’s resolutions may be, the majority of us have probably thrown the towel in by the time February rolls around.

Hide AdOne of the most popular New Year’s resolutions is to give up (or eat less) sugary food.
For those with a sweet tooth, Pancake Day could well be the point at which this particular resolution becomes undone.
This year, Pancake Day - formally known as Shrove Tuesday - falls on Tuesday, February 13.

Many of us will be making our own pancakes next Tuesday, but if you’re up for a treat there’s no harm in going out to a restaurant or café.

The Pudding Pantry, which has restaurants in Trinity Square, Sherwood and Beeston, has a reputation for serving some of the best pancakes in the city.
So, in the spirit of investigative journalism, I headed down to the Trinity Square restaurant to see what all the fuss was about.
'Best pancakes in Nottingham'
My visit fell at lunchtime on a Tuesday in February but there were still plenty of customers in the restaurant, which is always a good sign!

Hide AdHaving already studied the menu beforehand, I placed my order of buttermilk chicken pancakes.
You might question the decision to choose savoury over sweet, but I didn’t really fancy syrup or whipped cream as it was lunchtime.
My pancakes arrived after about 10 minutes and looked absolutely delicious.
The three thick pancakes were topped with fried buttermilk chicken, sriracha-maple sauce and spring onions.

"Thick, fluffy and full of flavour"
The pancakes were just as they should be - thick, but fluffy and full of flavour.
I hadn’t tried sriracha sauce before but was surprised at how spicy it was, so maybe give it a miss if heat isn’t your thing.
I could have done with a bit more chicken to compliment the mountain of pancakes, but that’s being really picky!
