My name is Jasmine Thomas-Alie and I am in my first year at Nottingham Trent university studying Journalism. I am originally from London, South London to be specific. I became interested in Journalism as I’ve always been fascinated by current affairs and popular stories. Since coming to Nottingham, I have began learning the process of how to be a good journalist (still have a long way to go). My first year has been fun, I’ve had the chance to shadow reporters from Nottingham post as well as having a go at writing my own stories. Writing my own stories has become an interest of mine, it has allowed me to think journalistically and creatively. I now travel throughout Nottingham, walking past places, seeing hundreds of potential newsworthy topics. In second year and third year, I hope to gain some more experience as a journalism student, writing and interviewing more frequently. After university, I would like to take some time to travel to a few different countries. I’d also like to get some more experience in my field before stepping into my desired career. In my spare time, away from university, I love to relax with family and friends. I also enjoy watching YouTube and TikTok, and all the creative/interesting videos that land on my timeline. In my future career, I hope to go on to work within journalism’s creative industry. I’d also like to do a bit of editing or producing on the side. I have enjoyed my journey so far and I am excited for what the future holds.
