A fresh look for Nottingham pub with £500k refurb and interactive games
Wells & Co is thrilled to announce the reopening of The Playwright, a beloved Nottingham pub, following a refurbishment costing over £500,000 and designed to refresh the space and enhance the community experience. The pub officially reopened on Thursday 11th December.
The renovation introduced interactive entertainment including darts and shuffleboard, alongside a refreshed interior that maintains the pub’s welcoming charm. These additions are designed to make The Playwright a lively hub for socialising, games and community connection.

“We’ve given The Playwright a fresh new look to make it an even better place for locals to come together, enjoy great drinks and have a bit of fun” said Thomas Palko, General Manager of The Playwright. He continued: “The refurbishment isn’t just about a facelift; it’s about creating a welcoming space for friends, families and neighbours to spend time together.”
The reopening comes at a challenging time for the hospitality sector, and Wells & Co remain committed to supporting its managed houses and pub partners while continuing to invest in high-quality experiences for local communities.

The Playwright reopened to the public on Thursday 11th December, offering locals the perfect place to gather, unwind and enjoy the new features.
