4th Hucknall Scout Group secures new tents through GO Outdoors’ £30,000 initiative to make the outdoors more accessible for young people.
4th Hucknall Scout Group received tents from GO Outdoors, the UK’s leading outdoor retailer, as part of a nationwide initiative launched to provide tents for Scout groups across the UK. As a long-standing partner of Scouts for a number of years, GO Outdoors deepened its commitment to helping young people enjoy the benefits of outdoor adventure.
Camping has always been at the heart of the Scouting experience, building confidence, resilience, and friendships that last a lifetime. However, for some groups, the cost of quality outdoor equipment has been a barrier. By donating tents to 4th Hucknall Scout Group, GO Outdoors helped remove obstacles and opened up new opportunities for multiple young people to enjoy nature safely and comfortably.

The donated tents were distributed to Scout groups across the UK, ensuring that as many young people as possible could participate in outdoor activities regardless of their circumstances. This initiative underlined GO Outdoors’ dedication to community support and their ongoing partnership with Scouts, which has included collaborative efforts to encourage outdoor learning and exploration.
Dwayne Fields, UK Chief Scout, said: “This generous support from GO Outdoors made a real difference to our movement. For many young people, camping with Scouts is their first experience of independence and adventure. Providing equipment like tents helped remove barriers and made it possible for more young people to benefit from these life-changing opportunities.”
Rachel Chinn, Group Partnership Manager at GO Outdoors from GO Outdoors, commented: “This gesture reflects our belief that everyone should have the chance to experience the outdoors and the benefits it brings. We are proud to support the Scouts in their mission to equip young people with skills for life, and we hope these tents have gone some way to help make camping more accessible to more young adventurers.”
4th Hucknall Group Lead Volunteer said: “Our Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts are absolutely thrilled with the new tents! They’re especially excited about the darkened rooms - a first for us! The sewn-in ground sheets are a huge improvement, especially after losing our old tents to flooding. We’re so grateful for this support, which means we can now include our Squirrels in full group camps for the first time”
GO Outdoors and Scouts continue to work hand-in-hand to inspire a love of the outdoors, making it easier for everyone to go camping, learn new skills, explore nature, and build lifelong memories.
