Newark and Sherwood road closures: nine for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Newark and Sherwood's motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• A1, from 8pm January 29 to 6am March 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A52 eastbound and westbound, Saxondale to Barrowby, carriageway closure due to construction works, diversion via National Highways network and local authority network.

And a further eight closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• A1, from 8pm February 19 to 5am February 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 southbound, Balderton to Fernwood, Lane closures for safety repair works.

• A1, from 9pm February 20 to 5am February 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, North Muskham to Cromwell, Lane closure due to maintenance works.

• A46, from 1pm February 22 to 6am February 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, Swinderby to Carholme roundabout, carriageway, lane and layby closures due to drainage works, diversion via National Highways network and local authority network.

• A1, from 8pm February 22 to 5am February 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound, Markham Moor, slip road closure for electrical works, diversion via National Highways network and local authority network.

• A1, from 8pm February 22 to 5am February 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound, Carlton on Trent to Tuxford, Lane closures for safety repair works.

• A46, from 7pm February 23 to 6am February 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A46 southbound, Carholme roundabout to Skellingthorpe roundabout, carriageway, lay-by and lane closures for anti-skid works, diversion route via National Highways network and local authority network.

• A1, from 8pm February 23 to 5am February 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound, Coddington, slip road and lane closures due to drainage works, diversion via national highways and local authority networks.

• A52, from 8pm February 27 to 6am February 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A52 eastbound and westbound, Bingham to Barrowby, mobile lane closures due to horticultural works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
