All the sparkle without the bang! It was a great night at Trent Bridge

When it comes to fireworks, I often find myself feeling confused.

I love the spectacle, the romance, and above all else, the sparkle but I’m not afraid to admit I can’t stand the bangs.

As someone with a bit of a jumpy disposition, fireworks tend to send my fight-or-flight response into overdrive.

That’s why I was all ears (and eyes) when I heard Trent Bridge was hosting an “epic drone light show”.

Thousands of people turned out to see the tech-forward show at the famous cricket ground.

The show, called Evolution, is the brainchild of Celestial, who creates drone shows across the globe.

It tells the story of Evolution through a genius light display, taking spectators on a journey through time, space, and technology.

The drones worked in harmony to create shapes in the sky, that told the story of how the world came to be.

The clever mastery behind the show didn’t go amiss with plenty of “oohs and ahhs” heard throughout the stadium.

More than 600 drones took flight to perform a clever ballet in the sky above Trent Bridge.

They formed colourful shapes including magnificent roaring dinosaurs, animals, and people.

Highlights included a shark, a rocket, and a stunning dragonfly that rotated for the entire crowd.

It was a wonderful sight and something different for the city to enjoy.

The show was met with high praise from dazzled spectators who spilled out onto the streets after the display.

Many described it as “amazing” and concluded it was “a way forward for people who dislike fireworks”, to which I agree.

The event was brought to you by Celestial (creators of drone light shows for brands across the globe), Yuup (the local experiences company), and venue partner Trent Bridge, the home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. Scroll through our gallery to see more photos from the wonderful display.
