RuPaul's Drag Race UK finalist will be the first queen to perform at new Nottingham drag event
Fans of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK are in for a treat next month, as one of the show’s best-loved queens sashays her way to Nottingham.
Michael Marouli, who came second in the latest series of Drag Race UK, will headline a new event in Nottingham called Shablam!

Hide AdThe quarterly event, which kicks off on May 12th, will every Sunday at Binks Yard and will see talented drag queens from across the East Midlands take to the stage.
Michael Marouli said: “I am so excited to be the very first queen performing at this incredible new event in Nottingham. It’s gonna be iconic, it’s gonna be epic, it’s gonna be everything!”
Michael will be joined by a cast of amazing local Drag performers including Marilyn Sane, Nana Arthole, Vayne, Kenya Knott and Liv Presents.

Hide AdOrganisers Saul Morgan and Laura Wood, have promised an afternoon of lip-synching mayhem, amazing live vocals, proper laughs, killer choreography, and post-show disco courtesy of Groovebox and Sanctuary resident DJ Cookii Shakes. The pair worked together on the Groovebox Pride Event at Binks Yard and are now keen to introduce more LGBTQ+ events to the city regularly.
Saul Morgan, who has also worked on projects with Jessie Ware and Idris Elba, commented: “The response we got to the Pride event was overwhelming and it got us thinking that there was a market for large-scale events and entertainment for Nottingham and the East Midlands Queer community, so I got on the phone to a few of my contacts and Shablam! Here it is!”
It is hoped that Shablam! on Sundays will become a regular fixture in the calendar as part of a suite of events created specifically for the East Midlands Queer community.
Other upcoming events include Groovebox Nottingham Pride @ Binks Yard on the 27th July with Gok Wan, H from Steps , and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’s Tomara Thomas.

Hide AdShablam! on Sundays is open to audiences 16+ and fully accessible for wheelchair users to ensure that everyone is included in the fun. Tickets cost from just £20 to £50 for the VIP meet and greet and are available to buy here.
