This certainly isn’t a bad replacement for Splendour Festival!

Nottingham ravers can expect more than 10-hours of non-stop partying this summer as the country’s top open air music is hosted in the city.

Inspired by legendary Manchester music institution The Hacienda, the huge open-air rave will be held in Wollaton Park on Saturday, August 31.

FAC51 The Hacienda, which organises huge raves across the UK, has now confirmed which artists attendees will be seeing in late August.

Live performers such as Soul II Soul, Ultra Nate and 808 State will be taking ravers back to the late 1980s and early 1990s, when UK dance music was at its peak.

There will also be an appearance from former Happy Mondays star Rowetta, who helped to pioneer the rave scene with the Manchester band.

The event will feature sets from world-renowned DJs, including Danny Tenaglia and Roger Sanchez.

After opening in Manchester in 1982, the famous Hacienda nightclub played a key role in the acid house movement, before ultimately closing in 1997.

This August will be the first time that FAC51 The Hacienda has hosted a rave in Nottingham.

Last month it was confirmed that Splendour Festival, due to be held at Wollaton Hall in July, had been cancelled.

Organisers blamed Nottingham City Council for “numerous delays” during the tender process.

Tickets for the open-air rave will go on sale at 10am on Thursday, February 29.
