Nottingham’s famous one-day multi-stage live music event Hockley Hustle

With just over a month to go before this year’s Hockley Hustle, organisers have announced a number of “homegrown local acts” among the line-up of 400 bands and artists on the ticket.

Nottingham’s famous one-day multi-stage live music event Hockley Hustle, supported by Arts Council England, It's in Nottingham and Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies, will take place on Sunday October 20th, at sites throughout the city.

Wristband holders will be able to choose from an array of artists on the day offering, the organisers promise, “live performances, choirs, orchestras, spoken word, carnival parades, silent discos”, across 50 different venues, as well as the legendary “Hustle after party”.

This year’s acts include The Rob Rosa String Quartet and guests at Antenna, including one of the UK's fastest rising artists JayaHadADream, soul singer Alfie Sharp, poet and undefeated battle rapper Bridie Squires, hip hop royalty Cappo and alt folk star Catmilk.

Another major venue is always Broadway cinema, where this year drag superqueen Arthole Thom will host acts including Hhymn, Davina Songbird and Dusty 4 Track.

One of the highlights of the day will be a street party, parades and dancing, led by Sneinton-based community carnival troupe IMPACD, young performers’ dance troupe Zodiac All Stars, and Asian drumming group Hit The Dhol.

All income from ticket sales is donated by the organisers to various charities. This year’s funds will go to support charities including The Rose Thompson Foundation, SFiCE, Base 51, IMARA, Emmanuel House, Nottingham Women's Centre, AKA CIC, Nottingham Refugee Forum and Tuvida Young Carers Notts.

More details about this year’s lineup, and news and announcements leading up to October 20th will be made at the Hockley Hustle instagram page.

The festival organisers are also running a special ‘industry day’ to help foster future music industry talent, through an “enhanced promoter mentorship scheme”.

Made possible by Arts Council England funding, the Hustle Industry Day, on Saturday September 28th, will offer free training and networking places for over 300 music industry creatives.

Hockley Hustle tickets, costing £15, can be bought via Gigantic. The organisers are offering reduced prices for NHS staff, people on low incomes, people who are unemployed, and students.
