Those of a certain age will recognise the chore of being around car boot sales every Sunday morning as a child.

But it’s often only once we become adults and start having to spend our own money that we realise the attraction of car boot sales.

Every Sunday morning, rain or shine, eagle-eyed bargain hunters descend on school playing fields and car parks in the hope of finding a diamond in the rough (literally, in some cases).

Whether you’re after a replacement lawnmower or some new dining room chairs, car boots are great places to pick up second-hand goods at discounted prices.

With many of us feeling the pinch at the moment, it’s unsurprising that car boots are soaring in popularity.

Isabel, who visited the car boot last year, said: “Always a great atmosphere and you can always find a rare item or three.

“Sit with a cuppa or freshly-made breakfast cob and strangers will spark up conversations about what you’ve bought. I love it and you would too.”

Another impressed visitor, Kemiyondo, said: “Loved it. So many things at very cheap prices. I had lots of fun and got several things, from clothes to shoes, kids’ stuff to kitchenware.”
